95 AND 6 TO GO Kimi Takesue

Film index A to Z

A Japanese-American man living in Hawaii, Tom Takesue is a pragmatic widower who knows his end is near. This gruff but endearing gentleman finds his artistic inspiration when his granddaughter asks for help with the romance script she is writing. During their sessions, Kimi Takesue asks her grandfather about his memories, specifically of the love of his life. The old man answers, and can’t resist throwing in sharp comments about her work as a filmmaker. The fiction project gives way to the film being made, a co-creation born of their strong rapport. A deeply moving portrait that also contains the portrait of a deceased wife who is still present, forever.
