Dream Box Jeroen Van der Stock

Film index A to Z

Somewhere in Japan, a forest stretches as far as the eye can see and thick billows of fog shroud a large, cold, grey building. Animals are brought here. Nobody knows where they come from – maybe they’re strays – and they don’t know why they’re there. People clad in white go to work, while the hallways echo with distressed barks and meows. Some of the animals are treated, others left in boredom, and a few brought inside the dream box... Filmmaker Jeroen Van der Stock underlines the mystery of this place in a film without dialogue, stripped of all context. The powerful shots and soundtrack suck us into a nightmare as incomprehensible for us as it is for the animals. A disquieting meditation.
