Nyo Vweta Nafta

Portuguese filmmaker Ico Costa returns to Inhambane, Mozambique, where he lived in 2010. He searches in vain for Nafta, a woman he met there years before. Wandering aimlessly, he captures the seemingly mundane conversations of a young generation engaged in endless rounds of sophomoric jokes, flirting and frustration with their living conditions. Backed by superb 16mm images, Costa takes us to the heart of a torrent of conversations and sensations that reveal, with growing bluntness, the social and historical conscience of Mozambican youth. A personal journey that turns into a unique sociological study. (GB)
