Oleg et les arts bizarres
In a sharp voice, he tells all, holding nothing back. How he has to stand to be able to talk; his noted penchant for little girls, especially in cemeteries; his passion for Catherine the Great. Oleg Nikolaevitch Karavaichuk, the 89-year-old virtuoso pianist, is unselfconsciously androgynous, nostalgic, strange. He resembles his compositions: complex, contradictory, fascinating. His words, whether he is in the Hermitage or next to his piano, carry the weight of the great historic upheavals that have shaped Russia. His melodic, occasionally delirious, and always sincere pronouncement are perfectly framed by stunningly beautiful shots of him alone, elegant lighting and meticulous attention to each moment.
The screenings will be presented with both French and English subtitles.
