Tempestad Tatiana Huezo

Film index A to Z

One ordinary day, Miriam was arrested and locked up, falsely accused of human trafficking. Ever since, the suffering she endured has haunted her. One ordinary day, Adela lost her daughter, Monica, who disappeared without a trace. For ten years, the mystery has cast a shadow over her work as a circus clown. In Tatiana Huezo’s delicate images, the two women’s stories intersect and enter a dialogue: two sides of a tragedy eating away at Mexico, with no end and no justice. The city, trains and ordinary world seem like a faraway dream accompanying the first woman’s story. The circus, a profoundly melancholic place of amusement, frames the second. Two lives stolen, documented in all their sensitivity and brutality. Heartbreaking.

Presented in collaboration with the Consulat général du Mexique à Montréal, the Chaire d’études du Mexique contemporain (CÉMC) de l’Université de Montréal and the Réseau d'études latino-américaines de Montréal (RÉLAM), and the Alter-Ciné Fondation
