Doc Circuit Montreal (DCM) took place from November 10 to 15 at the Cinémathèque québécoise. More than 450 industry professionals participated, with total event attendance of 2876. DCM 2017 included 38 talks, 3 VR events programmed in collaboration with MUTEK as part of HUB Montréal, 6 pitch activities, 3 specialized workshops, 1 rough cut session + 1 rough cut VR session, 11 networking activities, 4 grants, 218 guests (including 76 from outside Quebec) and 1074 business meetings.
This year’s market was also noteworthy for the creation of a Producers’ Lab, which brought together experts from several disciplines relevant to startups: business, film, technology and innovation. The fourth edition of the Talent Lab was also held this year, culminating in Canal D’s presentation of a $10,000 development grant to a Canadian French-language project. DCM was more popular than ever, attracting not only a wide spectrum of professionals, but many high-level guests including a delegation of six Danish producers specializing in interactive projects, five artists from the Open Immersion Lab, and 85 decision-makers, such as representatives of Eurimages, Chicken & Egg, National Geographic, Margaret Mead Film Festival, Syndicado and Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK).
