Two retrospectives will showcase filmmakers who at first glance seem to be poles apart, both geographically and artistically. But despite their di erences, Singaporean filmmaker Tan Pin Pin and American director James N. Kienitz Wilkins share a deep commitment to redefining the documentary and making political works with a di erence.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, a third retrospective is proposed every evening during the festival. The RIDM will present free screenings at venues around the city, everywhere from Saint-Laurent to Hochelaga, Saint- Henri, Rosemont and LaSalle. The films were selected from the festival’s past editions and include landmark local productions and unforgettable international films. All screenings will take place in unconventional venues, and some will include discussions with the filmmakers about the impact of the films on their subsequent work and on society at large.
