Talent Lab

OPEN TO CHOSEN PARTICIPANTS ONLY

For its 5th edition, the Talent Lab brings together emerging and mid-career artistic talent for three days of customized conferences and exploratory workshops moderated by a selection of RIDM and DCM filmmakers and experts.

Guided by two filmmakers, the participants are encouraged to reflect on their projects and artistic practices, receiving practical advice to enter the industry forum ready to network. Various panelists impart creative and professional know-how to help them launch their careers.

A customized mentorship program will be offered to seven filmmakers selected among Talent Lab participants. Certain participants from outside Quebec will also receive support from the Peter Wintonick Travel Grant, thanks to the generous contributions of the Canadian documentary community.

The first two days will be devoted to workshops and lectures for Talent Lab participants, who will then join the rest of DCM on November 12.

For the fourth year in a row, Canal D will offer a $10,000 grant (in the form of a development contract) to the makers of one of the Canadian French-language projects in Talent Lab 2018.

For the first year ever, the documentary studio in the NFB’s French-language program will offer support to a French-language project by a Quebec-based filmmaker in the form of development worth 9,000$.

The NFB and Canal D will both present their chosen projects on November 12 during the opening reception for the 14th annual Doc Circuit Montre?al.
