A group discussion and networking event in three parts:
Part 1: Round the Room presentations: Labels, Music supervisors, Music publishers Association // 30 minutes
Presenting the actors of the Québec music creation, licensing and supervision scene to local Forum RIDM filmmakers and producers.
Part 2: Music copyright and licensing fees vs Documentary budgets and distribution // 90 minutes
In a group setting, producers examine music license sliding scales and rights breakdowns to better understand how they can fit within documentary budgets and distribution strategies. What do the biggest music labels require and what can they understand and accept from production companies? We hone in on the role of the music supervisor in negotiating between labels and producers.
Part 3: Networking Hour Round Tables // 60 minutes
Breaking into groups, participants can ask specific questions while networking.
