4 Years in 10 Minutes Mladen Kovacevic

Film index A to Z

4 godine u 10 minuta

Climbing the world’s highest mountain means being prepared for danger and the unexpected. Using video recorded by the first Serb to climb Everest, along with astonishing excerpts from the climber’s diary, 4 Years in 10 Minutes is a brilliant reinvention of the mountaineering film, bringing us deep inside a strange private experience. The unsettling grandeur of the landscape seems ready to crush the camerawielding protagonist’s hubris at any moment. Hitting the outer limits of human endurance, and losing sight of the goal and the feeling of conquest, the climber is ultimately haunted by memories from the absurd to the mystical. Using a particularly ingenious approach to editing, Mladen Kovacevic has created a subversive poem about the mysterious mental states that occur at high altitudes. (CS)
