Kazuhiro Soda: Making Images Speak

A Flower and a Woman Kazuhiro Soda

Film index A to Z

The filmmaker’s second short confirms his remarkable eye for detail. A woman and a flower share a small apartment. A quasi-erotic tandem emerges: the two seem to blossom together. Until one day, life’s events upset the fragile balance that the film had encouraged us to embrace. This seemingly very simple story has great existential depth, gently leading us to ponder the cycle of life. (ACO)

Presented in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, la Chaire René Malo, the Concordia University’s Studio Arts Department Visiting Artist’s Speaker’s Series Conversations in Contemporary Art and the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema - Concordia University
