Acts of Love Isidore Bethel, Francis Leplay

Acts of Love

Let those who have never tried to mend a broken heart with a random fling throw the first stone! Struggling with putting the pieces back together after a toxic relationship, Isidore Bethel decides to portray his next intimate encounters through a film over which he admits he has no control. He posts a casting call on a dating app, attracting a number of men with whom he shares varying degrees of intimacy. While the filmmaker seems keen to highlight his own vulnerabilities, his mother worries that this project is nothing more than a pointless and narcissistic exercise and tries to dissuade him. In this film about desire and fluid relationships, the boundaries between spontaneity and performance are almost indiscernible, if not non-existent. (Programming Collective)
