Gestures of resistance

All of Your Stars are but Dust on my Shoes Haig Aivazian

Toutes tes étoiles ne sont que poussière sur mes chaussures

Through a dazzling collage of found footage and images recorded on the filmmaker’s phone, All of Your Stars are but Dust on my Shoe unpacks and deconstructs the evolution of lighting from its whale-oil origins to its many uses as a means of repression or control. Seemingly disparate video and sound elements enter into a dialogue in a dynamic, politically charged film, in which amazement, fear, and fury combine in a critical reflection. Neither preachy nor facile, this sensory work by multidisciplinary artist Haig Aivazian reminds us that light always has its dark side. (Programming Collective)
