Dialogue between the arts

Eastwood Alireza Rasoulinejad

An amateur filmmaker is fascinated, even obsessed, by Clint Eastwood’s charismatic aura in a photo on the front page of an old local newspaper. Donning a motorcycle helmet, this second Man with No Name decides to set off to the city of Sirjan in search of the legendary cinematic figure. In a landscape evoking parts of Eastwood’s filmography and helping to further blur the line between the two men, Alireza Rasoulinejad undertakes a cleverly satirical quest. Alternating between absurdity and serious, inventive ethnography, this unique film explores the American cultural dominance that reaches as far as a remote Iranian city. At the same time, Eastwood reveals the modernity and diversity of Iranian society. (Programming Collective)
