Faire-part Rob Jacobs, Anne Reijniers, Nizar Saleh, Paul Shemisi

Films index A to Z

In 2018, while the Democratic Republic of the Congo waited impatiently for repeatedly postponed presidential elections, some Kinshasa residents put on amazing street performances to express their resistance against social injustice. Two Congolese and two Belgian filmmakers decided to film this explosion of political art, in the process making a rare portrait of the country. What does it mean to collaborate on a film project when your partners come from the opposite side of colonial history? Who should the film be for? What is the right way to use a camera with subjects who have a love-hate relationship with it? Faire-part is an honest and inspiring reflection on the challenges facing today’s African filmmakers.
