For several years now, virtual reality experiences have been offering us the chance to experience the migrant life. Unlike projects that provide a spectacular but short immersive experience, Hotspot combines VR and participatory documentary theatre to create an uncanny representation of migrant processing centres. Structured in three distinct parts, this new type of experience, created by Patricia Bergeron, focuses on the complex work done by mediators during interviews at processing centres in Sicily. Inspired by real testimonials, Hotspot avoids simplifying the situation. Instead, it involves the viewer and encourages them to question their own political and moral views.
