Dialogue between the arts

La fin des rois Remi Brachet

La fin des rois

An actor, an author, and a director devise a play with a group of high-school students. Young football players train hard in the lead-up to a tournament. Mothers lobby the authorities for better housing for their families. In this gutsy documentary, a dialogue emerges between diverse, complementary stories; the kaleidoscopic portrait of Clichy-sous-Bois is far removed from stereotypes. Rémi Brachet spins fiction and reality into a film that draws attention to gender relations, questions the balance of power, and exposes the biases of those who tell and write narratives.
