National Short and Medium-Length Competition

Le chant de la nuit Félix Lamarche

Lulled by the light of the passing hours, A Night Song bears witness to the last days of Noella, an elderly woman who has chosen to receive medical assistance in dying at home. Ordinary, day-to-day activities—a game of cards, a breakfast, a call from a friend—are intertwined with the administrative formalities of her departure. With patience, tenderness, and great humanity, Félix Lamarche steps into these quiet moments, capturing emotional last goodbyes, the clinical nature of the medical procedure, and the grief of those present. In stillness, we share in the passing of a woman ready to go, her presence gently fading away.
