Le dernier refuge

On the edge of the Sahel, a refuge provides respite for migrants on a dangerous journey. Esther and Kady are teen girls from Burkina Faso. On their way north, they make friends with Natacha, a migrant who’s a few years older and losing hope of ever seeing home again. Thanks to his restrained, attentive approach, the Malian filmmaker becomes a discreet observer and witness to the three women’s predicament. The film takes a patient, intimate approach to observing their daily lives, full of doubts and dreams for the future. The Last Shelter captures not only the complexity and precariousness of exile, but also the solidarity and mutual aid it inspires. (Programming Collective)
