Les Enfants terribles Ahmet Necdet Çupur

The filmmaker turns his camera on his conservative family and community in a small Turkish village and with a privileged insider’s look he captures the frustrations, anxieties and dreams of his two younger siblings. While Zayneb wants to pursue a university education against her father’s wishes, Mahmut wants to divorce his teenage wife with the hopes of finding true love. The gender discrimination and the fierce paternal values that lie at the heart of this patriarchal society, affect how young people can actually plan for their future. The siblings’ uncompromising spirit towards self-realization however becomes the force to propel their destinies forward. (Programming Collective)
