Love-Moi
For young and outgoing Laetitia, everyday life is shaped by seduction, appearances, and her own carefully controlled image. Director Romane Garant Chartrand builds a close relationship with her subject, filming with great awareness and respect. The result is an attentive, up-to-the-minute portrait of a charismatic 17-year-old and the deep bond she shares with her friends. Occasionally piercing through a seemingly impenetrable façade – which, for Laetitia, served as a shield during a difficult childhood and the painful loss of her grandmother – Love Me is an intimate, no-filter encounter with a young woman of remarkable strength, well aware of her era’s demands for persona and performativity.
