Exploring Nature - Nov 12 to Nov 18

Piedra Sola Alejandro Telémaco Tarraf

Films A to Z

On the high plains of Argentina, near the Bolivian border, a llama rancher and his family live in a small community some 4000 metres above sea level. Their lives are disrupted by the appearance of a puma that stalks the area and attacks livestock. Filmmaker Alejandro Telémaco Tarraf draws us slowly but surely into a dreamlike tale about the relationship between humans and the environment, filming the smallest details of village life. Transcendent chiaroscuro images contrast with majestic panoramas of wide-open spaces. Piedra Sola is a mystical exploration grounded in the encounter between the rancher, his ancestors’ culture, nature and a predator that resembles a spirit, simultaneously invisible and omnipresent.
