In 1928, musician Mohammed Abdel Wahab and poet Ahmed Shawqi joined forces to compose Ya Garat Al Wadi, a piece now considered a classic of Arab music. Nearly 90 years later, at the initiative of experimental composer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem in my Heart), a contemporary orchestra of 15 musicians comes together for five days in Beirut to perform the piece. With its title echoing Jonas Mekas – a renowned filmmaker whose work explores the complex relationship between film and memory – this experimental documentary by Charles-André Coderre makes tangible the nebulous memory of an elusive artistic moment.
