Igual/Diferente/Ambas/Nenhuma
Two Brazilian friends living in Brazil and the United States stay in touch with each other by sharing film excerpts highlighting their lives and feelings. Between the living room and the bathroom, their world has been shrunk by lockdowns and social distancing. In the background, news broadcasts are a constant reminder of the failings of the leaders of both countries, and yet, glancing out the window, it is clear that the excitement of life and its challenges continues unabated. This video essay, as committed as it is fleeting, highlights the ways in which time and space seem to have frozen due to the pandemic. In melancholic yet resilient tones, the film reads like a sensory poem about the overwhelming upheaval the world is experiencing. (Programming Collective)
