旷野歌声
Dongnan Chen, a Chinese filmmaker living in the United States, closely examines the Christian choir in a Miao village in the mountains of Yunnan Province. This talented group has been co-opted by the government propaganda machine and shaken up by the rapid transformations of a constantly evolving China. Over the course of several years, Singing in the Wilderness documents the choir’s behind-the-scenes realities. The film presents a number of narrative voices, notably focusing on two endearing young women. By alternating between the individual, the familial, and the collective, Singing in the Wilderness highlights the social interactions in this community and the intrinsic power of art.
