The human space

Strict regime Nikita Yefimov

Начальник отряда

In a high-security detention centre in Russia, the filmmaker turns his camera on one of the prison guards. The guard, keen to control the way reality is represented inside the establishment and the image projected of it, wants to script and stage scenes from daily life to be acted out by the prisoners. Nikita Yefimov lays aside his role as director for a moment, and the resulting documentary, which goes behind the scenes in the prison, is not without a sense of humour. Shedding light on the shifting power relations that exist there, the film presents a stark vision of a reality that’s impossible to hide. (Programming Collective)
