The ongoing public health crisis has inspired much reflection on how we treat the sick and comfort the dying. For Natalie, the process started much sooner, with the death of her beloved older sister, Annie. In this animated short by Robin McKenna, Natalie talks about her desire to become an end-of-life caregiver. Alongside her patients crossing over to the other side, the Thanadoula finds a way to feel closer to her sister. Melding real life with supernatural poetry, the film is a gentle meditation on life and death, grief and compassion, separation and closeness. (Charlotte Selb)
