Experimental filmmaker Ben Russell cleverly draws on Mount Analogue, an unfinished, posthumous novel by René Daumal that was also the inspiration for Alejandro Jodorowsky’s subversively mystical feature film The Holy Mountain. The Invisible Mountain follows a roadie for the band Olimpia Splendid on a quest to find the fictional mountain. It presents a spiritual and physical odyssey from Finland to Greece, with hypnotic layovers in the trio’s musical territory. During this journey that channels its destination, Russell passionately explores the possibilities of cinematic language. This film presents a personal, contagious, and enchanting philosophical quest that renders the invisible tangible. (Programming Collective)
Ben Russell will also be giving a Masterclass on wednesday november 17th at 7:00 PM at La lumière collective, presented by VISIONS.
