Lohan and Samar have escaped the Syrian War and are living in a refugee camp in Germany with their parents and extended family. While experiencing profound changes, they are delighted in their newfound Western freedom and finally able to explore and express their trans identities, which brings them into moral conflict with the Muslim faith practiced in their home. As they begin to adopt the codes of Western femininity and develop a fascination for hairstyling and makeup, their younger sister, who admires their flamboyance, chooses to proudly wear a hijab as she enters adulthood. Despite the confrontations and cultural divide in the family’s dynamics, love seems to be the way to resolve their differences. (Programming Collective)
