National Short and Medium-Length Competition

La déconstruction de Baveuse City Chloé Pilon Vaillancourt

How do you communicate a language that only exists in your head? This is the question of Marie-Gold, a Montreal rapper who bursts through the screen in this black-and-white music short that shows the creative process behind her album Bienvenue à Baveuse City. With razor-sharp wordplay, the rapper draws us into an imaginary world she built from scratch, where poetry and building codes are curiously and cleverly juxtaposed. Steeped in introspection and vulnerability, the film sees Marie-Gold reveal the human behind the character of La Baveuse: a filmmaker, scientist, artist, woman named Chloé Pilon Vaillancourt who, like all of us, questions what the future may hold.
