On Sunday mornings, the RIDM are presenting screenings and activities for the whole family!
NOVEMBER 23 : PREMIÈRE VUE is a series of screenings and experimental film workshops for young audiences aged 5 to 17. The programs, organized by La Lumière Collective, highlight experimental, poetic, abstract, and handmade cinema, particularly works considered art cinema as opposed to films produced specifically for young audiences.
As part of the Montreal International Documentary Festival, La Lumière Collective has invited animation filmmaker Rachel Samson to present her “Marboulette” program. The program features films by Gilnaz Arzpeyma as well as Diane Obomsawin’s (Obom) earliest short films. The presentation will be followed by a brief workshop focusing on reflection through drawing, light-tablet animation, and flip-book animation. After these exercises, the drawings and animations will be presented on a screen. A discussion will be held to reflect on the ideas and imaginations that emerged from the viewing.
NOVEMBER 30 : On the last day of the festival, a special screening designed for parents with babies and young children will take place at the Cinémathèque. In suitable conditions - soft lighting, reduced volume, a babysitting service, and creative workshops - the feature-length documentary J’ai perdu de vue le paysage (I Lost Sight of the Landscape) will be presented, for a friendly, soothing, and carefree movie experience.
