SODEC and Forum RIDM continue their collaboration

with the SODEC_Lab @ Sunny Side of the Doc 2020 program

Montreal, Thursday, June 11, 2020 - Forum RIDM is proud to announce the renewal of its collaboration with the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) for a third time, as part of the international documentary market at Sunny Side of the Doc, to be held online from June 22 to 25. The Forum will work with a Quebec delegation of seven producers whose projects have a high potential for international co-production. The participants will benefit from the expertise of producer Ina Fichman, who will serve as mentor for the SODEC group.

Thanks to a series of workshops, meetings and customized networking sessions, the seven participants will receive professional guidance to help them expand their network of contacts in Europe and other markets, whether the aim is financing, coproduction or distribution. 

 

The selected delegates are the following:

Audrey-Ann Dupuis-Pierre - Metafilms

Audrey-Ann Dupuis-Pierre graduated from Concordia University in Film Production and started her career under the influence of Sylvain Corbeil and Nancy Grant, producers from the Montreal based production company Metafilms. She participated in the EURODOC program in 2015 and has been involved in thirteen feature films in Quebec. She is now developing creative and bold documentaries through Metafilms.

Danae Elon - Entre Deux Mondes

Danae Elon is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, producer and cinematographer. Graduating with honors and with excellence in cinematography from NYU, she is the recipient of a 2009 Guggenheim fellowship in film in addition to winning numerous awards and fellowships from Tribeca, Sundance Institute and the New Foundation for Film and TV. Her last film, A Sister’s Song, won an Iris award for Best cinematography. It showcased at Leipzig Doc, IDFA, FIPA Doc and was awarded the AIDC award for innovation in documentary filmmaking. Her films Another Road Home (2004), Partly Private (2007), P.S Jerusalem (2015) and The Patriarch’s Room (2016), have been showcased at TIFF, Berlinale, Tribeca, IDFA, Hot Docs, Melbourne, Human Rights watch, and many other international film festivals. They have also been theatrically released in the US and Canada and broadcast on the BBC, ARTE, The Sundance Channel, Radio-Canada, YLE Finland, TV2 Denmark, Hot and Channel 1 Israel andAl JazeeraInternational.

Daniela Mujica - Pimiento

As an executive producer at Pimiento, Daniela handles project financing, business development and content development. She is mainly dedicated to documentary series and one-offs for television, digital platforms and movie theatres. She also develops feature film and drama series projects. Having accumulated more than 10 years of experience in digital media, it is in 2010 that she made the jump to the audiovisual industry at Pimiento as a Content Producer for broadcast projects such as Miss Inc. (SRC, RDI), Derrière le miracle (SRC, RDI), Amérikologie (TV5) and Adrénaline (APTN). In 2018, she received a Gémeaux award in the Best Documentary/Biography category for the film Claude n'est pas mort, of which she is the ideator and content producer. Finally, in 2016, she accepted a position at Telefilm Canada in the department that administers the Canada Media Fund programs. She was quickly promoted to the position of Deputy Director for the Documentary Portfolio and remained there until January 2020 when she decided to return to the senior management team at Pimiento. Daniela holds a Bachelor's degree in Art (Film Studies and Photography) and a post-graduate diploma in Communication-Marketing from HEC Montréal. She is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Elodie Pollet - Films Extérieur Jour 

Elodie Pollet started her career in the post production industry. She has been involved in the production of works in many cinematic genres, from auteur films to animated features and unique documentaries, with directors such as Jean-Jacques Beineix, Mark Osborne, Radu Mihaileanu, Jacques Audiard and Albert Dupontel, among others. After two years spent filming European co-productions – Woman at War by Benedikt Erlingsson and A Gentle Creature by Sergei Loznitsa – she joined Films Extérieur Jour in order to focus on exploring and producing unique cinematic works and empowering young creators. Since 2019, she has also produced films for two other companies, Terre Innue and Les Productions du Rapide-Blanc.

Marie-Pierre Bellerose - St Laurent TV

Coming from the art and music industry, Marie-Pierre has also been immersed in the world of TV production for several years. From booking artists to handling social networks and stage managing, she fulfilled several mandates for Parce que Films (TV and clips), National Geographic or Sirius XM, before joining the St Laurent TV team. Project manager for the documentary series Filles de moto, Le Kevin Raphael Show and Sounds of Ottawa in 2018, she produced the following year, back-to-back, the webseries Did You?, Enter The Dance, Amours d´occasion and La loi c'est la loi. Self-taught, Marie-Pierre has more than one trick up her sleeve to complete a project.

Nicolas Paquet - FranC doc films

Nicolas Paquet is a co-founder of franC doc, a production company based in the Lower St. Lawrence region. He produced the documentaries Verdoyant pure laine and A beau venir qui part de loin. In 2011, he directed his first feature documentary, La règle d’or. In 2014, he followed up with the feature film Living Like the Land and the short Sugar Shack Tales, presented at the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal as well as in a dozen cities in Canada and abroad.

Tamás Wormser - Artesian Films Inc.

In 1989, Tamás Wormser founded Artesian Films. His first professional work was The Three Marias, a series of seven feminist themed dance films, shown on Canadian and Hungarian TV. His documentary Faces of the Hand, was broadcasted in over 40 countries and received widespread critical acclaim. In 1998, he made the fiction film The Ring. His festival favorite Step Up! follows a dancer, having lost a foot, to dance with Baryshnikov. CBC’s Magazine, Canada’s most watched documentary program, ZDF ARTE and others presented it. In 2003, he completed The Ball of Their Lives, about Hungarian-Canadian galas, the biggest debutante balls in North America, and in 2006, Touched by Water a film shot in 13 countries about bathing traditions and water-rituals. The film was presented at numerous festivals, TV stations and events around the globe. His 2008 production, Travelling Light is a theatrical documentary on modern-day nomadic artists. The short film Hand to Hand, commissioned by The Cultural Olympiad 2010 Vancouver was viewed by millions around the world. The film won several awards in North America and around the world. In 2014, Wormser completed The Wandering Muse, a feature documentary film and web site that explores Jewish identity through the music of the diaspora. The film had a theatrical run in Canada, and screened around the globe.
