Unframing Documentary presents sound works to be experienced in the darkness of Cinéma Moderne. For the second year running, cinema is taking a visual sabbatical. To tell stories through sound is to access an endlessly evocative power, akin to that of literature, and one that offers unprecedented creative freedom. As Orson Welles once said: “on the radio, the screen is larger than in the cinema.”
This program is produced in collaboration with Jenny Cartwright.
In this program, three sound creations tackle the theme of memory. What remains of the places and people we love once they’ve disappeared or been transformed?
In this program :
Voies urbaines : rue Sainte-Catherine - directed by Mathias Guilbaud
Les lieux disparus - directed by Claude Périard
Un pays qu'on connait à peine - directed by Roméo Lefèvre
This program will be presented in French.
This session will be preceded by the audio installation Cinéma Moderne, November 2023 by Julie Faubert. People who wish to experience this audio installation must be present 30 minutes before the start of the session (limited places). It will also be possible to discover the work for free during its opening event on November 18 at 5 pm.
