Gazan Tales

In the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Nabil Ahmed films a touching human chronicle of four ordinary lives, unvarnished, unrestrained, rough, and imperfect, yet joyful and vibrant. It's a rare insider's account shown through tender and authentic observational cinema that uses simplicity and humility to humanize people who are too often trapped in unfair representations. A music teacher, a grandfather, a seaside dweller, and a stable manager: these four men share their ordinary daily lives and common feelings. But in the background, music strikes a fragile and tenuous chord, showing the precarity of these lives, resulting in a minimalist yet devastating work. The film captures life in Gaza.
