When land in a working-class neighbourhood in Quebec City is ceded by the public sector for the development of a techno-industrial innovation centre, the residents, left out of the decision-making process, mobilize to take back their neighbourhood. On the ground, the fight begins and an old local garage solidifies the gap between two opposing visions of the world and of progress.
Throughout the film, David Sanchez explores the changing dynamics of a multifaceted, unifying and inclusive form of activism, whose first victory may just be rebuilding connections, dialogue, solidarity and resilience. Nos ruines fertiles pays a clear and shining homage to the fire of activism and the power of the collective in its quest for social and environmental justice. (MB)
