Talent to Watch 2024 | Benefit from Forum RIDM's recommendation

TALENT TO WATCH 2024

As a designated partner of the Talent to Watch  program, Forum RIDM will be able to recommend a first feature documentary project to Telefilm Canada, whose maximum financial support is $150,000. 

Forum RIDM invites emerging creators to submit a first feature documentary project in ordder to be considered for recommandation. 

Selected filmmakers will then be eligible to make an official submission to Telefilm Canada's program, from April 16-30, 2024, through the Industry Partner Stream

** Please note that there is also Festival Selection Stream and Filmmaker Apply-Direct Stream. If you are eligible for these streams, a recommendation by Forum RIDM is not necessary. 

Eligibility criteria of creative key members

The creative team consists of the director, writer and producer.

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;

  • Have previously produced, directed and/or written at least a:

    short film (a film of 30 minutes or less);
    web production;
    television content;
    commercials;
    music videos;


    Or equivalent experience in the screen-based industry, AND they must not have previously held the same key position on a feature film

  •  At least one member of the creative team must have participated in one of the activities for emerging filmmakers offered by RIDM and Forum RIDM in the last three years;


Project eligibillity

Recommended projects must be: 

  • Documentary works produced in French, English, an Aboriginal language or, for artistic reasons, in another language;

  • Feature-length documentaries of 75 minutes or more. 

 

How to submit

It is mandatory that candidates read the program guidelines (Industry Partners Stream).
Fill out the application form before April 14, 2024, at 11:59 PM. File must contain

  • Resumé of each member of the creative team

  • A long synopsis of the project (750 words maximum, including the main developments of the story and telling the basic story from beginning to end)

  • Director's note of intent

  • Cinematographic approach

Please note that no critical feedback will be given to rejected applications. 

IMPORTANT: The project recommended by Forum RIDM will have to be later submitted to Telefilm Canada from April 16-30, 2024. Additional documents will be required by Telefilm Canada to consider the file complete.

 

Talent to Watch Information Session

Telefilm is offering an information session on the Talent to Watch program on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 3pm to 4pm.
To prepare for this meeting, please submit your questions before March 29 and register here.
This session will be in English.
