Talent Lab Call for Projects

The Talent Lab call for projects is open from September 11 to October 10, 2019 (noon).

Presented by NETFLIX, the Forum RIDM Talent Lab is a unique creative and professional development initiative. For its 6th edition, the Talent Lab brings together Canadian emerging artistic talent to incubate film projects, expand filmmaking practices and foster community networks.

The Talent Lab will take place from November 16 to 18.

The Lab consists in two days of closed creative sessions on Saturday and Sunday, November 16-17. During the weekend, participants will attend master classes and engage in discussion with creative experts from the documentary industry. Within these closed sessions, 40% of the time is dedicated to the development of participants' projects in small groups of 5 people. Throughout the Talent Lab, participants receive group mentorship by professionals from the documentary industry as well. On Monday, November 18, participants will attend the professional activities of Forum RIDM, including the Opening Breakfast, the Funds Roundtables and other conferences.

To submit a proposal, you must have a documentary project in development or in production as the director or director-producer and have the status of permanent resident in Canada.

Participation fees

If you are selected for the Talent Lab, fees of $100 (+tax) will be charged to cover for the three days of activities. Lunches are provided. You will get a RIDM + Forum accreditation giving you access to all the films programmed by the festival and the entire programming of Forum RIDM (One-on-One Pitches excluded).
