RIDM en plein air: 4 free outdoor screenings this summer!

Montreal, Monday, June 3, 2019 – Summer is back in Montreal, and so is the outdoor programming of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM)! From July 10 to August 22, cinephiles are invited to attend four free outdoor screenings of documentaries that have made an impact in the past year. All screenings begin at nightfall, and all are followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker.

EXARCHEIA, THE CHANTING OF BIRDS by Nadine Gomez

In its original Greek version with French subtitles

Wednesday, July 10 at Parc Laurier – 9:15 p.m.

The Exarcheia district, in Athens, is the home of Greek anarchism. Over the course of a night, Nadine Gomez takes the pulse of an idealistic society and its paradoxes.

CITY DREAMERS by Joseph Hillel

Friday, July 26 at MR-63 Peel/Ottawa – 8:30 p.m.

Inside the fascinating world of pioneering women architects: an invitation to rethink the city with professionals who have dedicated their lives to improving our environment.

DU TEWEIKAN À L’ÉLECTRO : VOYAGE AUX SOURCES DE LA MUSIQUE AUTOCHTONE by Kim O’Bomsawin

Tuesday, August 6 at the Place de la Paix in the Quartier des spectacles – 9 p.m.

Parallel profiles of three indigenous musicians who are energizing Canadian music by melding their traditional musical heritage with contemporary styles, including folk, reggae and electronica.

Presented in collaboration with Société des arts technologiques [SAT], le Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles and l’arrondissement de Ville-Marie.

AND WITH A SMILE, THE REVOLUTION! by Alexandre Chartrand

In its original Catalan, French and Spanish version with French subtitles

Thursday, August 22 at Parc Molson – 8:30 p.m.

A close look at the days before and after the Catalan independence referendum in 2017: a tribute to a popular movement, raising important questions about the idea of democracy.
