RIDM unveils part of the lineup for its 28th edition, featuring three major programs: the O Grivo Retrospective, the Louise Bourque Retrospective, and Focus Taiwan.
O Grivo Retrospective: Crafting Sonic Landscapes
The O Grivo Retrospective highlights the sound work of the Brazilian group O Grivo, founded by experimental musicians and luthiers Nelson Soares and Marcos Moreira. Through a selection of five films, this program explores territories where sonic landscapes become true characters. They shape the narrative, to create an immersive experience, where every shot and every note transports the viewer into a unique sensory and poetic universe.
Louise Bourque Retrospective: Reality Unfolded in the Echoes of Memory
The Louise Bourque Retrospective spotlights the work of Acadian filmmaker Louise Bourque, a the pioneer of experimental cinema based in Montréal. Through a deeply personal and poetic approach, she transforms archival material using handcrafted film manipulation techniques to explore themes of memory, nostalgia, trauma, and identity. Six short films will be screened, accompanied by a live performance with the artist.
Focus Taiwan: Beyond the Frame
The Territorial Focus returns to the program, with the aim of encouraging intercultural dialogue by shining a spotlight on a region of the world and its films. This year, through this dedicated framework, the festival invites audiences to look past the surface of the image and engage with the ideas, histories, and lived realities that shape Taiwanese cinema today. This focus highlights a selection of five contemporary feature films tackling pressing political and social issues, as well as six short films, testifying the audacity and vitality of Taiwan’s avant-garde documentary scene. The screening will be accompanied by a live performance by DJ Vice City.

The 28th annual RIDM will take place from November 20 to 30, 2025.
