Cimatheque is happy to partner with Forum RIDM, the industry platform of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), to announce a collaboration supporting the development of an Egyptian feature-length documentary project.

For the 2024 edition of Forum RIDM, we are looking for a duo of director/producer with a feature-length documentary film project in development to participate in Doc Lab Montréal, Forum RIDM’s project incubator, scheduled for November 22-27, 2024.

The selected director/producer duo will have the chance to enhance their project's development as a part of Doc Lab Montréal. This intensive training and networking event is designed to foster exchange and collaboration, offering workshops and the opportunity to connect with industry professionals. With projects expected from several countries, participants will be immersed in a diverse and dynamic environment, fostering connections between documentary creators from all over the world.

Travel and accommodation costs (for the duration of the stay in Montreal) will be covered by Forum RIDM. This includes all accreditation fees for both Doc Lab Montreal (Nov. 22-24) as well as the professional market, which will carry on until Nov. 27.

We're looking for:

  • An Egyptian director/producer duo with a feature-length documentary project in development or in the early stages of production, with a planned length of 60 minutes or more.

  • Participants available for November 22-27, 2024 (covering both Doc Lab Montreal and Forum RIDM’s professional market).

  • Emerging filmmakers who have previously made a minimum of one short film and a maximum of two feature-length films.

Overview:

  • 3 days of closed-circuit group work sessions supervised by mentors.

  • 3 days of meetings, round tables, master classes and discussions with local and international professionals.

  • A pitch activity within Forum RIDM’s professional market, for an audience composed of professionals from international markets.

  • Selected participants must be available for the entire duration of Doc Lab Montréal and the following market, from November 22-27, 2024.

  • Sessions will be in English or French, depending on the speakers and participants. Real time translation provided for participants if needed.

  • Selected participants in Doc Lab Montréal will have the chance to participate in project development sessions, in addition to accessing master classes, lectures and round tables included in Forum RIDM’s program.

For submission, please detail your profile and project via this form. Projects must be submitted in English (the Lab’s working language).

Deadline for submission is May 6th, 2024, 11:59 pm Cairo Time.

Selected participants will be contacted by the end of May 2024.

Doc Lab Montréal’s full program will be unveiled in the Fall of 2024. For information on the 2023 edition, follow this link.
