For the first time, the RIDM has organized a day devoted entirely to emerging filmmakers. The Journée de la relève was conceived to introduce early-career filmmakers to the workings of the documentary industry, and to help them bridge the end of their studies and their entry into the job market. A Networking Brunch where participants can meet industry professionals and a masterclass with Kim O'Bomsawin are on the program, and the day will conclude with the 5 à 7 de la relève, co-presented by Radio-Canada.
This day will be followed by the Soirée de la relève Radio-Canada, which, each year, is a chance to discover short documentaries from Quebec’s emerging filmmakers. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for audiences to appreciate the talents of the voices set to shine brightly on our screens.
For the past ten years, this night has allowed for emerging Quebec filmmakers and their short documentary films to be showcased. A professional jury will select the winning film, whose director will be awarded with a $10 000 grant from Radio-Canada meant to fund a future project of theirs. All of the films will be available to stream for free on ICI TOU.TV starting from November 23rd 2024.
