An Algerian writer traverses his city in search of jacarandas, trees from Latin America whose purple flowers colour the streets. Accompanied by his son’s camera, he wanders a city that he knows by heart, punctuated by personal memories, collective history and reflections on literary and artistic creation. A prolific soul whose poetry is contagious, he paints a brilliant picture, revealing the hidden beauty and deep spirit of Algiers. Through this dialogue between a poet father and his filmmaker son, Alea Jacarandas presents an intimate urban fresco, lyrical and tender, that explores creation, heritage and cultural transmission.
