The year 1976 marked the beginning of Beirut’s ordeal. Through a child’s eyes, the filmmaker spends six months documenting the daily destruction of the city’s walls. Every morning between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., she roams Beirut while the militias on both sides rest after a night of fighting.
This special screening of Beyrouth, jamais plus, presented as a double feature with Beyrouth, ma ville, will be introduced by Bani Khoshnoudi.
These films are being screened in their restored versions, created from a 2K scan of the original 16 mm reversal working print and the 16 mm magnetic soundtrack preserved at the Archives françaises du film (French Film Archives).
