This feature-length film follows the story of The Critics, a collective from Kaduna, who are just as prominent in front of the camera as they are behind it. Punctuated by scenes from their videos and films posted to YouTube, Crocodile sheds light on what the artists wanted to create out of joy and necessity: a new world. Guided by a search for meaning, their universe reveals a story of ambition and resilience. The documentary shows these Nigerian youth, hungry for change, searching for a balance between tradition and innovation. This film offers a glimpse into the creators’ private lives through intimate moments from adolescence to early adulthood. By retracing the coming-of-age story of the members of The Critics, Crocodile shows what art really is: a vital force. (SCV)
