In the mist, a Buddhist monastery emerges at dawn. A Wen has come to spend a few days here before returning to his everyday life in Barcelona. In the silence, he seeks to continue healing the wounds left by his troubled past as a gangster. His younger sister, filmmaker Xisi Sofia Ye Chen, observes him with a gentle, respectful camera, as if to rediscover a brother whom distance has turned into a stranger. The body remembers, so A Wen’s years of drifting can never be entirely forgotten; they return again and again. This intimate portrait takes us into the Chinese diaspora in Spain and into a generation that inherited the experience of displacement without choosing to leave its country of origin. Fortunately, a caring sister whispers a comforting story. (ORN)
