Koutkekout Joseph Hillel

Koutkekout

Behind heavy, well-guarded doors in war-torn Haiti, a group of artists are busy preparing for a theatre festival. Between rehearsals and work meetings, heart-rending questions emerge: why create when armed conflicts are raging outside? Should we leave to express ourselves freely, or stay to resist? At the heart of this microcosm, creation becomes a tool to externalize the distress of daily life, but also a driver of hope and resistance for the artists and their community. Theatre, alive and vibrant, brings together the bodies and voices of those who fight to create, no matter the cost. Through testimonies and gestures, we witness art in its most active form: that of a determined act in the face of the impossible. (SC)

The screening on the 25th will be followed by Launch Party | Vini fete Koutkekout!

Co-presented by the Festival Transamérique (FTA)
