Montreal music meets documentary!

The Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) is launching Les Cartes blanches, a new series presented by Télé-Québec that brings cinema into conversation with other artistic practices.

For this first edition, two artists from Montreal’s music scene have been invited to design an evening in their own image.

On November 25, the duo Bibi Club will present Rebecca Zehr’s documentary A Sound of My Own, followed by a performance inspired by the film. After the screening, the duo will perform a hybrid set, combining the film’s music with their own original compositions.

Synopsis : Blending archives, performances, and images of everyday life, this film paints a portrait of Marja Burchard, leader of the eclectic krautrock collective Embryo, co-founded by her late father.

The band PyPy will present General Idea: Art, AIDS and the Fin de siècle by Annette Mangaard on November 27, followed by an electrifying live concert.

Synopsis : A portrait of the artists’ collective General Idea, this documentary, made from extensive archives, is a story of love, fame, overwhelming loss, and, ultimately, renewal.

Two free and immersive evenings at the Cinémathèque québécoise, where image and sound intertwine to create a unique experience.
