Montreal, July 18, 2023 – Forum RIDM, presented by Netflix, is thrilled to introduce Doc Lab Montréal, the new incarnation of Forum RIDM’s Talent Lab, which has been reinvented for its tenth edition. This revamped format will enable international participants to take part in Forum RIDM’s flagship activity, while staying true to its objective of promoting imaginative projects and emerging Canadian talents.
From November 17 to 22, Doc Lab Montréal will welcome a cohort of Canadian and international filmmakers and producers with short, medium-length or feature-length projects in development. Together, they will take part in this talent incubator designed to help them bring their work and their approach to documentary creation one step further.
For the first three days, selected participants will benefit from closed group sessions led by established artists and experts selected from the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) and Forum RIDM’s lineups. Following this mentorship, participants will take part in activities held during the three final days of Forum RIDM; master classes, talks on documentary creation and production as well as networking initiatives designed to enhance and complement Doc Lab Montréal’s content.
What’s more, filmmakers with feature-length projects will be given the opportunity to present their projects at a pitch session before an audience of seasoned national and international industry professionals. As in previous years, participating projects will be eligible for prizes provided by Forum RIDM’s partners, including ONF, NFB and CineGround.
2023 Doc Lab Montréal eligibility criteria
Emerging Canadian filmmakers with creative documentary projects in development or in the early stages of production are invited to apply before August 21, 2023, at 12 p.m (EDT).
For details on how to submit applications, visit the Doc Lab Montréal call for projects page.
