Sensitive to how sound inhabits space and shapes our experience, Simon Plouffe immerses us in the heart of two parallel, intertwined explorations of the world of sound. The first gives a platform to people who hear voices, who seek to name and help us understand the perceptual phenomena that shape their daily lives. The second examines the sonic impact of urban upheavals related to the housing crisis. Cranes, construction sites and machinery assert their presence in this film essay featuring an attentive camera, stifling the voices of citizens who oppose them and nature. Des grues et des voix weaves a meticulous and immersive soundscape, bringing vibrations, whispers and urban sounds to the screen, creating a thoughtful reflection on what we hear and perceive. (MAS)
