Ramin, a young Iranian immigrant, fled his country after facing persecution for his homosexuality. He makes a living doing odd jobs on construction sites, hoping to leave the port city of Veracruz, Mexico, where he is stranded. Staying in a modest family-run hotel, he befriends the manager, Leti, who teaches him Spanish, and Guillermo, a Salvadoran who is also in transit and with whom he shares his sorrows and hopes. With great subtlety, the film gradually reveals the pasts of these protagonists, whose paths have crossed, and their resilience and strength. As Ramin tries to find his footing in this new place, Leti braces for the temporary return of her boyfriend, who left her to start a new life in the United States. Through skillful and understated storytelling, this fictional work portrays sensitively a city that has become a transitory stop for many, exploring with empathy the complex reality of exile for those who leave and those who remain.
